katie-711.jpg

Hi hi! My name is Katie, though in the art world (as well as in my coven) I go by the name of Vyktoriah. Why Vyktoriah? Well, when I was 17 and going through Catholic confirmation, I had to choose a saint’s name to take. I chose Saint Victoria. But I thought it was boring. So I spruced it up a bit. As I got older, I began studying various evil pagan practices (tongue firmly in cheek there!) and realised that numerologically Vyktoriah actually suits me. Plus, the voices in my head prefer to call me Vyktoriah.

Also, Katie.com is already taken, but vyktoriah.com is all mine!

Anyway, I was born in 1982, and at the time of this writing, I am 26 years old. That, of course, will change depending on how many years go by before you read this. I am married to a man who was born in 1978. He’s a Virgo to my Aquarius, and we’re dangerously unsuitable for one another, but somehow we’ve been married since 2003. And though I am an American, born and bred, my husband is British as marmite, and I thoughtlessly agreed to move to the UK to make a life with him. What was I thinking?!? Oh yes, he’s kind of hot, so I guess I was willing to emigrate for him. That’s love, people.

Hobbies include painting, photography, crafts, reading, writing, blogging and web design. Anything creative makes me happy. Unfortunately, I’m also one of them thar starvin’ arteests. Meaning that no matter how well I do, I still have yet to make money from any of my pursuits. Of course, that could be because I haven’t bothered to try yet. Har har.

Those who try to win my affection with warm Dr Pepper, freshly picked corn on the cob, or a new set of Tarot cards would probably get it. Those who are stuck for time, I can also be bought with BPAL Imps Ears of any sort.

At some point, I’ll put up a wishlist or a quiz or something. Just to keep you all informed, you understand, and not because I’m actually expecting gifts. Though if a gift were to find its way into my pocket, I’m sure I wouldn’t cry too hard.

Update (24/4/08): Right. I took a personality quiz, which I thought was interesting. Here are my results.

5 - the Observer

you chose BZ - your Enneagram type is FIVE (aka “The Thinker”).

“I need to understand the world”

Observers have a need for knowledge and are introverted, curious, analytical, and insightful.

How to Get Along with Me

  • Be independent, not clingy.
  • Speak in a straightforward and brief manner.
  • I need time alone to process my feelings and thoughts.
  • Remember that If I seem aloof, distant, or arrogant, it may be that I am feeling uncomfortable.
  • Make me feel welcome, but not too intensely, or I might doubt your sincerity.
  • If I become irritated when I have to repeat things, it may be because it was such an effort to get my thoughts out in the first place.
  • don’t come on like a bulldozer.
  • Help me to avoid my pet peeves: big parties, other people’s loud music, overdone emotions, and intrusions on my privacy.

What I Like About Being a FIVE

  • standing back and viewing life objectively
  • coming to a thorough understanding; perceiving causes and effects
  • my sense of integrity: doing what I think is right and not being influenced by social pressure
  • not being caught up in material possessions and status
  • being calm in a crisis

What’s Hard About Being a FIVE

  • being slow to put my knowledge and insights out in the world
  • feeling bad when I act defensive or like a know-it-all
  • being pressured to be with people when I don’t want to be
  • watching others with better social skills, but less intelligence or technical skill, do better professionally

FIVEs as Children Often

  • spend a lot of time alone reading, making collections, and so on
  • have a few special friends rather than many
  • are very bright and curious and do well in school
  • have independent minds and often question their parents and teachers
  • watch events from a detached point of view, gathering information
  • assume a poker face in order not to look afraid
  • are sensitive; avoid interpersonal conflict
  • feel intruded upon and controlled and/or ignored and neglected

FIVEs as Parents

  • are often kind, perceptive, and devoted
  • are sometimes authoritarian and demanding
  • may expect more intellectual achievement than is developmentally appropriate
  • may be intolerant of their children expressing strong emotions

Update the second (22nd August 2008). Further personality excitement.

Your result for The Chess Mess Test…

The Queen’s Knight

Congrats! Only 4-5% of the population score this!

The Queen’s Knight is armed with rose-colored glasses. The mundane comes to life and nature becomes expressive of spirit. The interesting thing about this Knight is the ability to switch from fantasy to reality. There are exceptions to the rule, but this is the type that may have had imaginary friends as a youngster. Their stuffed animals also were great companions. The Queen’s Knight will see the good in almost anyone or anything – but their depth of emotion can remain hidden even from themselves. Circumstances tend to reveal sudden responses.

Not all life is rosy and this Knight is not exempt from disappointment or frustration with humanity. They may feel incompetence when dealing with their own ethical values. Things aren’t simply white black, but a grand battle of Good versus Evil. Evil must be reckoned with but Good shall eventually win. It is not that they fight evil, but that they fight for the essence of moral good. Doing something good is quite satisfactory for them and indeed increases their happiness. It is when something is not reciprocated to them that they are saddened and disappointed by others. They learn that others aren’t as self-sacrificing.

The Queen’s Knight is dominated by an inner world of intense feeling and deeply rooted ethics. They seek to form their life based on their views. They are highly curious of those around them so are readily accepting of others unless their values are being threatened. They promote insight and understanding amongst others and contribute well thought ideas. They however can be a bit too idealistic.
